We are all familiar with the “good old” wago clamps.
This is perhaps the fastest and most versatile way to connect wires in electrical applications. And although there are still debates about their reliability in some Internet battles and videos, it must be admitted that with proper use:
- in lighting circuits
- in lines with low load
- plus automatic protection with the correct rated current
They fully justify their purpose and perform all the functions that are included in them by the manufacturer.
Wago and humidity
However, there is one BUT - these vago terminals, even from original suppliers from Germany, are still a product for indoor use. Moreover, dry rooms.
In humid environments (bathrooms, baths, saunas) they are not recommended for electrical wiring.
And even more so, such clamps cannot be used to connect wires on the street. And this need arises very often:
- installation of street lighting
Connecting the cable to lamps inside poles via Wago with paste still does not provide 100% contact protection.
- decorating the facade of the house with garlands
- outdoor connection of power circuits for alarms, video surveillance, intercom, electric gate lock
In all these cases, it is often necessary to install a coupling or something similar. For example, the crooked legs of a dead chicken, familiar to all electricians.
